NCI

Overview

The Non-Controlling Interest (NCI) module is composed of three interconnected components:

NCI Equity represents the portion of subsidiary equity not owned by the parent company. It appears on the Balance Sheet under Equity. The closing balance is calculated as the opening balance plus the Net Income attributable to NCI, minus Dividends paid to NCI holders.

Net Income attributable to NCI reflects the minority shareholders’ share of the subsidiary’s earnings. It is shown in the Income Statement (typically below consolidated Net Income) and reversed as a non-cash adjustment in the Cash Flow Statement under Operating Activities.

Dividends paid to NCI are distributions to minority shareholders. These reduce the NCI equity balance and are reported in the Cash Flow Statement under Financing Activities.

Adding a module

To add an NCI component in a model, select one of the following nodes in the Blueprint window:

  • Schedule → Non-Controlling Interest
  • Balance Sheet → Non-Controlling Interest Equity
  • Income Statement → Net Income attributable to NCI
  • Cash Flow Statement → Dividends paid to NCI
